National Honor Society
The Alexander Hamilton High School National Honor Society Chapter is composed of students, grades 9-12, who demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The Society is the main face of community service in the school and Village of Elmsford--often called upon to help with projects and events.
Requirements for Induction:- A cumulative yearly average of 85 or above in all four core courses from Marking Periods 1, 2, and 3.
Required Courses:
- Minimum math classes: Algebra 1, Geometry and Alg II
- Two years of a foreign language
- One additional Elective PE, The Arts or Computers
- Plus, take the advanced course that is offered in that area of study in your school at that grade level.
Requirements to Maintain Membership:
- A cumulative yearly average of 85 or above in all four core courses from Marking Periods 1, 2, and 3.
- 30 hours of community service must be fulfilled the following year, using these guidelines:
- A member will earn service hours if opportunities are listed in Google classroom or on their own.
- A member must record all their hours in Google form in the NHS Google classroom.
- The maximum number of hours a member can use for a single event is 15 hours.
- Hours must be submitted via Google Form even if they are "unverified" or "unconfirmed," and must all be submitted by the announced deadline each year.
