Elmsford Union Free School District Advocacy
-
The Elmsford Union Free School District (UFSD) Board of Education is committed to targeted advocacy on behalf of the children of the Elmsford UFSD and the entire Elmsford UFSD educational community. There are many ways community members may become involved in this important mission. All members of the educational community are strongly encouraged to participate in the on-going conversation.
The following advocacy priorities have been established to guide the work of the Elmsford UFSD Advocacy participants. It is crucial that the lines of communication remain open, clear and constant, between the educational community and the Board of Education, to ensure any newly established goals align with the vision of the Board and are approved from the aforementioned governing body. The advocacy priorities are as follows:
Elmsford UFSD Advocacy Goals
Seek legislation that requires design and validation of an APPR process that informs instruction and thereby promotes student learning
Support efforts to grant public schools the same NYS Education Law exemptions as charter schools
Support efforts to review the appropriateness and effectiveness of the CCLS and their implementation in NYS
Fully fund the NYS Foundation Aid Formula
Provide targetted assistance for economically disadvantaged students
Provide for predictable and sustainable state support and a predictable tax cap
Provide high-cost services relief
If you are interested in becoming more involved in this important, on-going advocacy effort, please contact Ms. Diane Caperna at (914) 592-6632.
