UPDATE:
School Budget Vote & Board of Education Election

Pursuant to Governor Cuomo's Executive Order 202.26 , the 2020-2021 school budget vote and board of education election shall be conducted via absentee ballot in conjunction with the school district’s rescheduled absentee ballot process or independently using the guidelines created for the school district’s absentee ballot process. Such a vote may be managed by the school district. Furthermore, the same provisions that are made for a school board trustee’s petition;

Election of every common, union free, central and central high school district and the annual meeting of every city school district in a city having a population of less than one hundred twenty-five thousand inhabitants was scheduled to be held on the third Tuesday of May, two thousand twenty is hereby adjourned and rescheduled until June 9, 2020, which shall be deemed the  statewide uniform voting day;

This change also impacts school districts’ regular notification practices and timelines for sharing information about the vote and election.

 

Updated Absentee Ballot Information

Under Governor Cuomo's new Executive Order 202.39, dated July 7, 2020:

  Sections 2018-a and 2018-b of the Education Law, to the extent necessary to allow any absentee ballot for an election held on June 9, 2020 and received by mail in the office of the clerk of the school district or designee of the trustees or school board not later than June 16, 2020 to be canvassed for such election.  No ballots for such election shall be accepted by the clerk of the school district or designee of the trustees or school board after 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020 except those received by mail in accordance with this provision. Any receptacle used for hand delivery of absentee ballots in such election shall be closed and removed at 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020; The ballots therein shall remain unopened pending delivery of mailed ballots, and shall be removed and canvassed after 5 p.m. on June 16, 2020

 

As a reult of the new Executive Order, the absentee ballot box in front of Alice E. Grady Elementary School must be removed at 5:00p.m on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

 

Voter Information

In accordance with Executive Order No. 202.26, the Budget Vote and School Board Election will be held remotely, by Absentee Ballot only. Qualified voters of this School District will receive absentee ballots by mail. 

To be a qualified voter you must be a US Citizen, at least 18 years old by June 9, 2020, a School District resident for 30 days immediately preceding the vote, and registered to vote in School District elections and having voted in any School District election/vote during the past 4 calendar years. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there will be no personal voter registration held at school district offices prior to the June 9, 2020 vote.

If you are not registered, you can register with the County Board of Elections by mail or remotely through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website at: https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application

Voter Registration Information for the 2020-2021 Budget & Board of Education Election

To cast a vote in the Elmsford Union Free School District annual budget vote, Board of Education member elections or special referendums, you must be registered to vote. 

Please note that if you were registered to vote in Westchester County but have since moved to the Elmsford Union Free School District, you must be registered with the county using your Elmsford address to be eligible to vote.

To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, and a resident of the District for at least 30 days before the vote.

Qualified Voters may register to vote with the local County Board of Elections by completing an online application with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. You may also visit the Westchester County Board of Elections to register to vote.

A qualified voter must be 18 years old by June 9, 2020, a citizen of the United States and a resident within the Elmsford Union Freel School District  for 30 days immediately preceding the vote, and not otherwise prohibited from voting.

Any person who is registered with the Westchester County Board of Elections in the District need not register separately with the District.

 Absentee Ballot Applications and Procedures

Absentee ballots will be made available for every eligible Elmsford voter.

A person must complete an absentee ballot application prior to receiving the actual absentee ballot. Absentee ballot applications are available by calling the district clerk at 914-592-6632 or by visiting the District’s website, eufsd.org , and clicking on the “EUFSD Budget Information” link.

  • June 9, 2020 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for absentee ballots to be received by the district clerk.
