New Staff Welcomed to Elmsford Union Free School District
As the new school year approaches, the Elmsford Union Free School District welcomed a group of dedicated educators to its team. During a special orientation event, new staff members were introduced to the district's culture, expectations, and resources.
Interim Superintendent James Ryan emphasized the district's commitment to serving the community and its children. "We are a service organization," he stated. "You are the top of the pyramid, and your contributions will significantly impact the welfare of this school district."
School principals also expressed their enthusiasm for the new staff members. Andrea Hamilton, Principal of Alice E. Grady Elementary School, encouraged new hires to get to know their students and families. "We serve generations," she said. "I have students of students, and I don't take that lightly."
Simone Grixti, Principal of Dixson Elementary School, welcomed new staff members and shared her experience as a graduate of the district. "If there is one thing I can tell you about what we do here is we take care of our students," she said.
Joseph Engelhardt, Principal of Alexander Hamilton High School, introduced himself and highlighted the unique qualities of his school. "We have a really, really small school but it packs a big punch," he said. "This is the hidden gem of Westchester County." He emphasized the importance of not only teaching in the classroom but also being involved in school events, connecting with families, and participating in the entire school community.
Assistant Superintendent James Yap discussed the importance of "marigolds," referring to supportive colleagues who offer positive motivation. He emphasized the value of surrounding oneself with good people who can lift one up and provide encouragement.
Throughout the day, new staff learned about district policies, technology, and curriculum. They also had the opportunity to visit their school buildings and connect with their colleagues.
As the new school year begins, the Elmsford Union Free School District is excited to welcome its new staff members and looks forward to the positive impact they will make on the lives of students and the community.
