Grady’s Second Grade has invited Dr. Hamilton

to participate in a Reading Challenge.

The second grade students and their families are invited to participate in this year’s Principal’s Reading Challenge.  All you have to do is read each night for a minimum of 20 minutes and log the information on the reading log each day.  At the end of the week (each Monday morning), the minutes recorded will be added to the CLASS READING TOTAL for the week.  The reading challenge ends APRIL 30th!!!  All minutes will be added to the final count and recorded the first week in May!

At the end of the month, the second grade class with the MOST minutes read will have their challenge presented to Dr. Hamilton.

Why are we participating in this reading challenge?

Reading is the single most important activity in a child’s education.  Research shows that children who read every day are better prepared to succeed in formal education.  We invited all families to participate in an effort to show our students that reading can be enjoyable and informative.  The daily activity of reading together is shown to strengthen communication and the bond between family members.  Please help us motivate all of our students to read more while encouraging a love of reading.  Thank you for your support.
