• Happy New Year Hamilton School Community,

It is hard to imagine that in a few weeks half the school year will be complete.  Please join me in congratulating our students on their success.  Many of our seniors have fulfilled their dreams and have been accepted into the colleges and universities of their choice.  In addition, our students have also secured employment in trades they have studied or are excited about their future enrollment into our Armed Forces.

Throughout the day, students are engaged in high level learning tasks and continue to meet the high rigorous expectations of our curriculum.  With the addition of high level courses, we are also seeing an increase in the students who are enrolled and are successful in these opportunities.  Please join me in celebrating some of our student highlights this year.

    Student Highlights

    • At the beginning of the year, students engaged in Start with Hello Week. This is part of the Sandy Hook Promise Program. In support of our student’s social emotional learning, some of the activities they engaged our students in included, Welcoming Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, and Friendship Friday

    • Our Girls Volleyball team won the Sectional Finals for the first time in Hamilton history.  Congratulations to the team!!!

    • Our 8th grade students were involved in a STEM Project where they had to release an egg from the roof!  Students were challenged to create a protective “ship” for the egg to land safely.  Students were engaged in learning about aerodynamics, velocity, engineering and physics during this activity.

    • In English Class, students are crafting resumes and polishing their professional skills with mock interviews.  In another ELA class, students published companion Flip video short story reviews (complete with scannable QR codes) for their final literary analysis essays.

    • Students in Art engaged in a project inspired by abstract artist Vance Kirkland. The students learned the difference between organic and geometric shapes and have become experts at working with watercolor paints. Also, in Studio Art, students worked on a lesson inspired by the beautiful arabesques of Islamic Tiles. They’re working on craftsmanship and are practicing blending techniques using colored pencils.

    • Our Law students visited the Village courthouse and met with Justice Naclerio to discuss his long legal career and career as a judge.

    • In social studies class, students just engaged in an Urban Project game which allows students to understand the impact of industrialization during the Industrial Revolution. In another social studies course, students created travel posters advertising one of the great African kingdoms

    • Our International Students Club went on a field trip to Manhattan to “Discover NY.” It was both a fun and educational experience for our students.

    • Guidance Counselors Ms. Ahern and Ms. Luccioni set up a very successful College Fair for our students which included 28 colleges.

    • Our Guidance Counselors also took our high school students to the Theodore Young Community Center for a College Fair. We thank Ms. Tina Harper and our partners at the TDYCC for providing this opportunity for our students.

    • In partnership with Manhattanville College, we hosted a family engagement night for families to discuss the FAFSA process - Please visit our Guidance Page for additional information - Guidance Department Link
