• Dear Alexander Hamilton High School Family,

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!

I’d like to tell you a little bit about the professional journey that has led me to AHHS. I graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in Financial Management and then went on to work in the financial sector in New York City. While I enjoyed my time in business and grew during that period in my life, I missed being in an academic environment. I knew I had a passion for young people, the ability to be a positive male role model and, if given the chance, I could empower students in the classroom. I attended C.W. Post University where I earned an MS in Education, and Brooklyn College where I earned an MS in School Leadership. I started my career in education as a New York City middle school teacher. I taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade for seven years at various schools in the city system. During my tenure as a New York City teacher, I served as the mathematics and science department chair, athletic director, and coached.

After my time in New York City, I moved on to work as the Assistant Principal of Sleepy Hollow Middle School in Tarrytown. I was proud to serve the Tarrytown School District for four years where I met so many amazing students and formed lasting relationships with an innovative group of colleagues. During my tenure, I had much to be proud of. I served as the DASA Coordinator, held weekly student empowerment groups, and attended spectacular school events such as dances, concerts, performances, and sporting events. Furthermore, through many hours of hard work and collaboration with teachers, we designed a new Living Environment curriculum, analyzed data to create differentiated instruction in all content areas, and vertically aligned assessments to standards based instruction in mathematics and English language arts. In addition, through the PTA as well as the entire school community we were able to redesign the recess yard.

On a more personal note, I owe much of my success to my wonderful family. My wife, Laura and I have two amazing daughters, Emma and Brooklyn.

On a regular basis throughout the school year, I will provide you with important school information through our school website. As we embark on this journey together please feel free to contact me at any time. My number one goal is to continue the safe learning environment for each student where they feel free to take academic risks, realize their passions, meet their potential, and gain confidence to become responsible members of their community. Through hard work, communication, and your help we can achieve this goal as well as many more together.
