EUFSD prepares new budget to be voted on June 20, 2023

The Elmsford Union Free School District appreciates our community taking the time to come out to vote on Tuesday, May 16 on the budget and board of education elections. Given the outcome of the budget vote, we acknowledge the residents in the district have questions about the future relating to cost. We look forward to working with the community in developing a new budget for the 2023-2024 school year that addresses those questions and provides a roadmap for the future that everyone can support.

“Developing a budget that meets the needs of our students, supports our staff, and prepares our students and facilities to be successful in the 21st century is no easy task,” Superintendent Ronald Gonzalez said. “It is a complicated process, and we endeavor to find an appropriate balance between the district’s needs and the community’s desire for fiscal feasibility.”

“The results of the vote do not reflect a lack of confidence in our schools,” the superintendent continued. “We know how much our parents and community support our schools and the work we are doing to ensure your students thrive academically, socially and emotionally and are prepared for their future. We thank you for that support as we move forward in working together to continue this important work.”

In the upcoming weeks the district will be working to bridge the gap and allow the community further opportunities to share their concerns and answer all questions as the board develops a new budget.

The district is in the planning stages to hold another budget vote on June 20, 2023, and will continue to keep the community updated as it moves through this process.
